Play Dates ideas
Local Science Centers & Museum: Here in our home town, we have wonderful science centers for our children. On special days the science centers will have discounts and even better free days. Check out your science center or museums for these discounts or season passes. This is a great place to meet, regardless of weather.
Indoor Craft day: On a chilly winter day, invite a couple of moms over with their children over to your home or a reserved room at your church. Do crafts that maybe reflect the season that you are going into. Your kids could make the table cards for the Thanksgiving table or the hand drawn cards to send to extended family. While the kids are doing this, you can be investing in the other moms and investing in their lives.
Go for a hike: Bundle up your kids and go for a hike on a sunny day. Choose a park that has great hiking trails and meet a friend to go exploring. The activity will keep your children warm and they will love the outside break. A little sunshine will make the winter blues seem not so long.
Open your home: This doesn’t have to be a large group, but invite over a mom and her children and have a play date in your home. Put on a pot of coffee or tea. Have the mom over in the morning and let the children play together. You can spend time encouraging each other while the kids are playing and entertaining each other.
