Ways to Be Known for Hospitality

  1. Thank you for this encouragement to practice hospitality in more ways than just having someone over. I spent time today writing notes to my children and one of their friends that is living with us for a season. I figured I could start with those closest to me . I was inspired to do a few other acts of kindness and I love the verse in Mark. I think I will adopt it as well and see what Jesus does with my life.

  2. I have been thinking about what hospitality is lately. While it is manifest through our actions, at its root hospitality is loving the stranger. This is internal. Any action taken apart from love is as a clanging cymbal after all. We need to cultivate within ourselves a heart that says, because you are made in the image of God, I love you. You are welcome in my heart and in my life. I will esteem you above myself. I will quickly give you grace if I feel offended by something you say or do. I will look for ways to encourage you and bless you. This is the kind of hospitality that Jesus has for us. Because I have received hospitality from our Great God and King when I did not deserve it, I will do so for you.
