Spring forward Some Easy Forgotten’s
Detectors: Fire Alarms and Carbon monoxide detectors need to be tested and batteries changed.
Ceiling Fans: Every ceiling fan has a little switch on the motor that changes the direction of the fan blades. When the fan goes clockwise, it pushes the warm air up and then down to bring a warm flow into the room. Turn the switch to rotate counter-clockwise, it pushes the covol air down to create a cool breeze in the room.
Fireplace: If you have a fireplace that has a damper, you need to close it. This will keep the cool air in . If you have a gas fireplace
Tools to Spring Clean
Here are a few tools that I like to have available to use when I am ready to deep clean.
Microfiber Cloths: Microfiber towels are great to work with when you are cleaning. Did you know, you can use good quality microfiber with just water and it will clean surfaces great? It is true.
I love using Microfiber and my favorite place to purchase it is at Microfiber Wholesale.
I shared in a post called Best Spring Cleaning Tips that goes more in detail about Microfiber cloths.
High Duster: High dusters help in so many ways. You will be able to reach fans, lights above the sink and my favorite that dust covered baseboard behind the bed. My favorite is the Swiffer High Duster set. It comes with Heavy duty dusters.
Scrub brush: You need a good scrub brush. A brush that will clean the grout, the sink and sliding glass door tracks. A good scrub brush needs to be in your cleaning kit. Short handle brushes tend to be the best because you can control the motion.
Rules to Clean by
There are just a few rules that you need to follow when cleaning to help make your cleaning go faster, be more efficient as well as be sure to get everything cleaned.
Clean from top to bottom clockwise: Start cleaning at the top of the room and work your way to the floor. You can either work in a spiral and do the Top all the way around. Then the middle, finishing up with the floors or literally cleaning in 3 foot sections from top to bottom. Moving clockwise around the room. This will insure that you get everything touched and cleaned.
Gather all your supplies that you need for the task at hand. Before starting a cleaning project, gather all your supplies. Having to start and stop to go get cleaning tools slows down your productivity as well as gives you the opportunity to get distracted.
Complete a room before moving to the next. Don’t bounce from room to room before finishing the room you have started. It is so easy to say, Let’s clean all the windows in the house, then clean all the floors in the house. Along with everything in between grouped together. When you start a room, finish the room. This will help you complete areas and also if you need to stop for the day, you have a clear cut off to be able to start back the next day.
Quick tip
Take down your drapes and throw them in the dryer with a wool dryer ball that has been 3-4 drops of your favorite Essential Oils. I like Young Living Thieves. This will refresh the drapes and also get dust off of them.
These Spring Cleaning Easy Tips to Deep Clean will help you jump start into getting your home ready for spring. Always remember, Making your home a place of refuge for your family and friends is always the goal. Your home can be a place that people love to gather.
