Quick French Toast Bake Recipe
If you have been reading Pursuing Hospitality long, you know we have an Airbnb in our home. We love having strangers enter our home and leave as friends. This past week we had a group of students that come in once a quarter to attend Campbellsville University to work on their Masters. They were precious. In their review of our AirBnB, they said it was like being at home. They also loved this Quick French Toast Bake Recipe that I made them.
One of the ways we serve our Airbnb guests is, we serve breakfast each morning. Just a little secret about me, I am not a morning person. So I look for amazing recipes that take little time to cook and prep. I don’t want to be in the kitchen too early in the mornings. I have altered a couple of recipes I have found and came up with this Quick French Toast Bake Recipe. So easy and you can make it ahead.
This is probably one of the easiest recipes to do. You can put it together in the evening and place it in your refrigerator for the morning to bake. It also rewarms so well. I cook this quick french toast bake recipe in a large 9X13 baking dish. Leftovers are always welcomed.
I love getting day old Cinnamon Raisin Loaf Bread from Panera to use for this recipe. But you can use any fresh crusty bread for this Quick French Toast Bake Recipe.
Quick French Toast Bake Recipe
Ingredients
For casserole
- 1 loaf of Crusty Bread (I love using cinnamon raisin bread for this)
- 6 eggs beaten
- 1 3/4 cups of milk (I use whole milk but whatever you have is fine)
- 1 cups of half and half
- 1 Tbsp of vanilla extract
- 1 Tbsp of Cinnamon
- 1/2 Cup of Sugar
Topping for Casserole
- 1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar packed
- 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp of cinnamon
- 4 tsp of cold butter cut into little squares
Directions
- The night before or at least 2 hours ahead: Cut the ends off the bread. Slice the bread into 1X1 inch cubes. Place cubes in your greased 9 X 13 baking dish.
- Mix the following ingredients together, eggs, milk, half and half, vanilla extract, cinnamon & sugar. Once they are well mixed, pour over the bread cubes.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours up to overnight.
- Take the casserole out of the refrigerator and uncover.
- When you are ready to bake: Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees.
- Mix together the topping for the casserole. Combine the sugar, flour & cinnamon. Cut the butter into the flour mixture with a knife until it is crumbly. Sprinkle over the casserole.
- Cover the casserole with foil and cook for 25-30 minutes. Uncover to cook for 25 more minutes. The center should not be wiggly but bounce back to touch.
Serve your Quick French Toast Bake Recipe with some Maple syrup (my favorite) or good ole’ pancake syrup.
My guest also loves these really easy Cinnamon rolls. They are easy to make and you will be the hit of the morning.
